Steve Vaughn has been with JLM Environmental for the past nine years, currently serving as its Operations Manager; prior to this position, Steve oversaw the development and federal accreditation of JLM Environmental's in-house asbestos laboratory and served as its Laboratory Manager for five years. Over the years, he has developed his skills in the environmental testing industry under Jonathan Massey, a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) with JLM Environmental; Steve is a Cal/OSHA Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) for asbestos as well as a Lead Sampling Technician through the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and has personally performed over 5,000 inspections (JLM Environmental as a whole has performed over 37,000 inspections since 2011). Recently, Steve presented a 30 minute lecture on the different asbestos minerals in California at the Torrance Library (on behalf of the South Bay Lapidary and Mineral Society) and is currently working through the accreditation process with the State of California to offer industry-related training courses. "My favorite aspect of this field is that every day offers new opportunities to expand my knowledge and build new relationships with our clients." Steve's passions outside of the environmental testing industry include rockhounding in the Mojave Desert and reading historical non-fiction.
